The World Endurance Championship started this weekend on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans. The Sarthe welcomed the drivers with a wet weather. Of the 54 teams at the start (18 EWC – 34 SST – 2 EXP), only 34 were able to reach the checkered flag after 24 hours of racing. The start gave a foretaste of the race with two crashes: one at the start and the other at the first turn by the Suzuki n°12 of the Yoshimura SERT team. Mechanical problems, crashes and safety cars followed one another until Sunday afternoon. But after a frantic race, it is the Honda #1 that won the 24 hours motorcycle race.

Tati Team Beringer Racing

After a start in 9th position, the Tati Team realized a race on a very good rhythm without any mistake from the pilots and very good refuelling. Throughout the race, the bike was positioned between 4th and 6th place. It temporarily climbed to P3 but two interventions on the bike were too much for the podium and made it lose 3 places. The bike finished the race in 6th place being the 1st Kawasaki and the 2nd private team.

Motobox Kremer

After complicated qualifications, the Yamaha #65 took the start in 44th place. The pilots made an exceptional race by gaining places hour after hour. They finished the race in a very good 15th position overall and 11th in the EWC class.

Mana-au competition

For their first season in the EWC category, the Mana-au compétition team achieved a great performance. After a difficult qualifying session, the Yamaha started in 32nd place. The consistent lap times of the riders and efficient pit stops allowed the bike to move up to 24th place. But after more than 10 hours of racing and 490 laps of the circuit, an engine failure destroyed any chance of finishing the race.

Team Bolliger

Despite the bad weather conditions during the qualifying session, the Kawasaki #8 finished in 17th place. After 12 hours of racing and the many ups and downs of the race, the bike was in 11th place. After 18 hours of racing it dropped back to P13 and finally crossed the finish line in 11th place overall and 9th in the EWC class.

Team Players

Despite a good set-up of the bike, the #56 Kawasaki suffered from the weather conditions during the qualifying session and started the 24 Hours of Motorcycling in 49th position. After 12 hours of racing, the bike had moved up 20 places to P29. But a collision on Sunday morning at 517 laps made them lose precious minutes to finally finish the endurance in 34th position overall and 23rd in the SST category.

See you on June 17 and 18 on the SPA-Francorchamps circuit for the second meeting of the world endurance championship.

The years go by and they are not the same. After two years behind closed doors, the Bugatti circuit was once again able to welcome the public for the 45th edition of the 24h of Le Mans motorcycle race, a race that was full of twists and turns from the start. The flag was lowered for the 52 machines entered, the pilots ran, started their bikes and left for a frantic 24-hour race. But not everything went as planned for some bikes: on the side of the official Yamaha, the bike had again difficulties with the engine starting. This caused it to lose precious seconds. While just behind, an impressive collision involved the Yamaha #96 of Team Moto Ain and the BMW #74 of Seigneur Motorsport Team Mont Blanc. A first exit (of the 5 during the race) of the Safety Car which stopped the race during nearly 15 minutes. After 24 hours of driving, crashes, repairs, refuelling…, it’s the Suzuki n°1 of SERT which crossed the finish line, followed closely by YART and Honda n°5.

And what’s about the motorcycles equipped with Beringer brake.

Tati Team – Kawasaki #4

Starting in 11th position, the Tati Team mototrcycle made a very good start and completed the laps of the Bugatti circuit with regularity. But, a few minutes before the 8th hour of the race, Alan Techer finishes his lap by pushing the bike due to a fuel failure. The bike went from P6 to P13 and didn’t earn the bonus points distributed in the 8th and 16th hour of the race for the top 10 bikes. A first disappointment for the team which had made a faultless start of the race.

An hour later, the #4 Kawasaki had to take the bike into the pit, this time due to a fuel pump problem. After a great job from the mechanics team, the bike starts again and is in the middle of the pack in P22.

Despite these hard knocks, the riders picked up the pace and the team of mechanics/technicians carried out very effective refuelling. The rest of the race goes on without problems, the bike goes up hour after hour in the ranking to cross the finish line in 11th position overall and 5th in the EWC category.

Best lap: 1min 37sec 794

Team Bolliger – Kawasaki #8

As usual, the Kawasaki of the Swiss team made a very regular race. Starting in 23rd position on the starting grid, it managed to climb back into the top 10 after only 6 hours of racing. Without any problems during the remaining 18 hours, a regular speed and good refuelling allowed the machine to keep its position throughout the race until crossing the checkered flag. They finished the race in 8th position overall and 4th in the EWC class.

Best lap: 1min 39sec 094

Team Motobox Kremer – Yamaha #65

After half-hearted practices, the Yamaha #65 started the race in 34th position. Geoffroy Dehaye makes a very good start which allows him to gain 2 places in the classification. The relays follow one another and the pilots realize a beautiful race while the team of mechanics makes good refuelling and wheel changes. The mototrcycle climbs little by little in the ranking to reach P21 after 6 hours of race. But on Sunday at 6am, after 15 hours of riding, the Yamaha’s engine broke and the team had to abandon the race.

Best lap: 1min 40sec 149

BMRT 3D Maxxess Nevers – Kawasaki #24

The 24h Motos race is a new challenge every year for the BMRT 3D Maxxess Nevers team. After machines destroyed by a fall and by fire during the 2021 pre-Mans tests, it’s the turn of one of the pilots to suffer the bad fate. Indeed, during the night tests, a bad fall of Julien Pilot forces him not to take the departure. The team has then less than 48 hours to find a new pilot. It’s Loïc ARBEL, 4th pilot of the Tati Team who offers himself and joins the BMRT. It was an opportunity for this young pilot but also a challenge: he is going to realize his first endurance race on a motorcycle which he doesn’t know. The team, champion of the SST category in 2021, takes the start of the 24H du Mans race in 19th position.

Shortly after midnight, after 9 hours of racing, the bike encounters problems requiring the intervention of mechanics. This first pit stop made the bike fall from 7th to 21st place. But the team doesn’t admit defeat and the pilots set off again to make up for their delay. At the 18th hour of the race, the bike is back to the 12th position, a feat knowing that it is a first endurance race for 2 of the 3 pilots! But on Sunday noon, 3 hours before the end of the race, the bike encounters again an exhaust problem which requires a new pit stop. However, they finished the race in a very good 12th position overall and 7th in their superstock category.

Best lap: 1min 38sec 433

This race of the 12 hours of Estoril was full of suprises. The high temperature on track and the fight for the podium put a serious challenge to the riders and the bikes. From the very first hours of the race, the favourites and leaders (BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and Yoshimura SERT Motul) crashed and temporarily lost their place on the podium. YART took advantage of this to take first place in the race, but a few hours later they crashed too and fell to 19th place in the standings. The #5 F.C.C TSR Honda France and #11 Webike SRC Kawasaki France Trickstar bikes made a steady race and took advantage of their competitors’ crashes to take the lead of the race.

After good results during the qualifying sessions on Thursday and Friday, the team was placed in 9th position on the starting grid. The pilots realize a race without faults, the mechanics knew perfectly how to manage the refuelling and the wheel changes during the 12 hours of race. During the last hours, the bike #24 of BMRT fights against the #55 of National Moto for the 1st place in Superstock (SST) category. But a fuel failure of the Honda #55 makes him lose the first place of the podium.

The BMRT finished 6th overall and 1st in the Superstock class. In the SST championship standings, the team is in 2nd position, only 2 points behind the leader, National Moto.

# 8 Team Bolliger Switzerland (7ème EWC)

After two days of qualifying, the bike started the race in 17th position. The Bolliger team ran a consistent race, without any mistakes from the riders and the paddock crew, which allowed them to gain places in the standings little by little. After 12 hours of racing and 409 laps, the bike did justice to its number and finished in a very good 8th place overall, 7th in the EWC class and 12th in the championship with 19 points.

28.#65 Motobox Kremer Racing (13ème EWC)

It was a complicated weekend for Motobox Kremer Racing. After qualifying results below the expectations of the riders that put the team in 28th position on the grid, the bike encountered electronic problems during almost 10 hours of the race. But nobody gave up, neither the riders or the mechanics who worked hard to find the source of the problem and the team finally crossed the finish line in 28th position overall. After this second race of the Endurance World Championship, Motobox Kremer Racing is in a very good 8th position in the EWC category.

WITHDRAWAL. #4 Tati Team Beringer Racing

After excellent practices, the bike starts the race in 5th position among the favorites. During the first 7 hours of the race, no mistake from the riders, a regular rhythm on the track and a very good work during the refuelling ensured him a place in the top 5. But at mid-race, the pilot Morgan Brechet was hit by the pilot of SERT (#1) Xavier Simeon, surprised by a slower bike in front of Morgan. The impact is as violent as unexpected, the pilots are ejected some meters farther. Morgan goes immediately to rescue Xavier Siméon, shaken by the fall. This gesture earned him the Anthony Delhalle EWC Spirit Trophy.

After a very good work of the mechanics to repair the bike, it restarts and points in 12th position. After more than 9 hours of racing and 303 laps of the track, the bike was forced to retire due to an engine overheating caused by the earlier crash.

This second retirement, this time due to a race fact, places the Tati Team Beringer Racing in last place of the championship. But despite these bad experiences, the team has once again proven that it has a place among the championship leaders!

During this second meeting of the World Endurance Championship, the brakes were put to the test with track temperatures reaching 60°C. But they kept their performance throughout the race! The Beringer brakes have already been approved for a 24-hour race, now they are approved for extreme weather conditions.

For motorcycles equipped with Beringer brakes

Our motorcycle, the KAWASAKI #4 TATI TEAM BERINGER RACING, after great result during practice, starts in 4th position, after a few laps it moves up to second position and then even to 1st position at the first hour! The first relay was perfect and the bike stayed in the leading group, things changed in the 3rd relay for Julien Enjolras with a fuel valve leak, followed by a crash, then a second crash. The team quickly fixed things, the bike was operational again and went on to complete regular 35-lap in 1’37 every lap!

Alan Techer even establishes the record of the lap with 1’36”743 ! The demonstration is made that the # 4 is clearly one of the best motorcycle of the championship.

Unfortunately, new damages come to worry the team, the engine overheats in an incomprehensible way. All is checked but the cause isn’t identified. Sebastien Suchet falls heavily following a high side. The bike is damaged and the pilot is well shocked, the decision is taken to give up around 22H30.

Team Bolliger #8 had an emotional weekend. After a 19th place during the qualifications and handicapped by a limited electronics and insoluble problems of clutch on the Kawasaki, the team makes an exemplary race to finish fourth place. But the first 4 machines are inspected by the commissioners and the #8 is disqualified because of a tank capacity of 24.4 liters instead of 24 L maximum.

The Yamaha #65 MOTOBOX KREMER

During the first qualifications, a heavy crash put one of the Yamaha out of action, the team decided not to participate in the 2nd qualifications to save the second and only bike. It was a wise choice because after starting in 30th place, they finished the 24 hours of Le Mans in 12th place overall and 8th in the EWC group. The whole Motobox Kremer team showed a very good performance for a race of this magnitude.

BMRT3D #24 had a very nice race almost without any trouble. After a race start in P17, the bike follows a regular rhythm. A change of fork in the 4th hour and 2 crashes in the night make them go down in the ranking. But they were able to hold on and gradually climb up the rankings to finish these 24H with an incredible 5th place overall and 2nd place in the superstock class (SST).

Team Space Moto #73 also had a great race. Very few mechanical problems and no crashes of its riders. A regular rhythm which allows the pilots to gain places at each relay. Starting from the 42nd place, they finish at a very honorable 14th place overall and 6th in the SST category.

After qualifying and night practice, the #23 Univers Racing BMW started the race in P35. Although in full recovery at the beginning of the race, the bike encountered slight technical problems from 10pm. Unfortunately, a major electrical failure forced the team to abandon the race.

Congratulations to all the teams, drivers, mechanics and staff for this fabulous edition!

Conclusion: BERINGER brakes approved by the best to last 24 hours!
